The History of ManUP

The ManUP Conference was the idea of our good friend and Brother in Christ, Victor Marrero with approval from then St. Edward Catholic Church Pastor, Father John Peloso, back in August 2012.

ManUP describes itself as a ministry for men to grow as ‘priest, prophet and king’ as anointed through baptism. During the conference, men enjoy fellowship while experiencing a personal “encounter” with the Lord.

The inaugural conference took place in January 2013. Since then, the ManUP Conference is held annually on the Friday & Saturday following Ash Wednesday, as a “kickoff” to the Lenten season and hosts nationally recognized religious and lay speakers from around the country.

In 2014 ManUP expanded to include fathers & sons, grandsons, nephews and all young adults (16 and older). As a result, ManUP 2025 recorded the largest number of young adults (16-25) in attendance since expanding. Thankfully, our future seems to be embracing ManUP!

In 2017, the first ManUP Golf Tournament was created as a means of funding the conference. Since then, the annual golf tournament is held on the first Friday in December with the proceeds of the tournament allowing for the conference to remain free of charge for all attendees.

In 2022, the ManUP Conference again expanded to include all parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Miami.

In 2025, more than 400 men, fathers and sons from the Archdiocese of Miami and other dioceses throughout the state of Florida attended the 13th annual ManUP Conference.

Fathers and sons from dioceses as far away as Austin, TX and Boston, MA traveled to Miami to attend ManUP.
